Architecture Room of Lusail Museum by Herzog & de Meuron

Welcome to the architecture room. This room is a display of the process which lead to the final architectural design for the building, which will be the future Lusail Museum.

The building is designed by Herzog & de Meuron, an architectural practice founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1978 by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.

The building is located at the southern end of Al Maha Island in Lusail. There are three main components to the display in this room:

  1. The flying carpet
  2. The Museum model
  3. The Crescent wall fragment

The flying carpet is a selection of models from the Herzog & de Meuron collection, which showcase the evolution of the building and landscape design, from early concepts to recent material studies.

The museum model is a 1:150 scale representation of the current design of the building which is due to start construction in 2023.

The Crescent fragment is a 1:1 scale representation of a piece of the spherical wall found the in the crescent space within the building.
